Xinqiao town in Jiangyin, a county-level city of Wuxi, ranked among the top 50 Chinese Characteristic Small Towns in 2021, according to a recent report released by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
The 2021 Development Index Report of Chinese Characteristic Towns has been published for four consecutive years since 2018, showing the current development, latest trends, as well as characteristics of designated characteristic towns in terms of living environment, business, as well as travel.
The top 50 listed towns were located in 10 provinces and autonomous regions in China, including seven from Jiangsu province.
Located in the southeast of Jiangyin, Xinqiao town is home to many famous domestic textile enterprises like Jiangsu Sunshine Group and Heilan Group, which has given the town the unique nickname "Town of Clothes."
Based on scientific renovations, systemic reforms, and an accelerated adjustment of the industrial mix, the township has simultaneously developed traditional industries and high-tech industries, invented new products and manufactured brand products, as well as bolstered itself with assets and capital management.
In recent years, Xinqiao has been working to develop tourism based on its manufacturing industry, aiming to promote its ecological environment and horse culture.
