Wuxi Economic Development Zone in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province is making efforts to improve the zone's appearance, with the district launching a new urban renewal scheme and a series of projects on Sept 9.
According to the new scheme, the urban renewal works of Wuxi Economic Development Zone will mainly focus on "one belt, two towns, and three parks."
The "one belt" refers to building the surrounding area of Gonghu Avenue into a diversified composite modern service industry cluster area.
A total of four functional areas, featuring living services, ecological environment, historical culture, and technological innovation, will be connected from north to south with Gonghu Avenue, which will span 2.6 square kilometers east to west and 4 kilometers north to south from Yinxiu Road in the north and Gaolang Road in the south.
The "two towns" refer to renovation projects in Huazhuang ancient town and Zhouxin ancient town. They will be built into two commercial blocks displaying local culture and history.
The "three parks" refer to industrial integration and innovation works in Golden Bay Science and Technology Park, Taihu Bay Information Park, as well as National Sensor Park.
Wuxi Economic Development Zone signed a deal with Wuxi Taihu New City Group to establish a 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) urban renewal fund, which will be used as a fulcrum to implement 30 billion yuan in cooperation funds for urban renewal projects.
Wuxi Taihu New City Group will carry out the urban renewal works with 29 syndicates, as well as construction and operation units, which were also signed during the event.
