Wuxi's culture and tourism industry boomed during the seven-day National Day holiday, local media reported on Oct 8.
Data from the online travel agency Lvmama showed that Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province was one of the top 10 tourist destinations in China during the holiday.
The city's various tourist attractions and cultural venues organized over 100 events from Oct 1 to 7, allowing visitors to admire flowers, taste local delicacies, watch dance performances, enjoy shopping, and spend interesting nights in Wuxi.
Yuantouzhu Scenic Area, a popular tourist attraction in Wuxi, hosted activities like sailboat shows, outdoor music concerts, boat trips, and food fairs, allowing visitors to enjoy the area's beautiful scenery, experience the local lifestyle, as well as taste local Taihu specialties.
In order to promote nighttime tourism, Wuxi Plum Garden staged a nighttime light show featuring blooming lilies from Sept 30 to Oct 7. Huishan Ancient Town also opened at night during the holiday. Activities like music shows, as well as local opera and erhu performances provided visitors fresh experiences in the historical town.
Cultural fairs were organized in Xiaolou Lane, Dongling Academy, Yixing's Dajue Temple. The integration of culture and tourism provided people with more opportunities to experience and participate in cultural preservation activities.
In addition, the city's booming rural tourism market saw over 244 million visitors over the seven days, a year-on-year increase of 102.7 percent and also an increase of 99.2 percent over the same period in 2019.
