Sponsored by the National Intellectual Property Administration, the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the event is themed around smart design.
This year's event includes an opening ceremony, an exhibition, as well as two award ceremonies for the 22nd China Design Patent Award and the 10th Taihu Award Design Competition. Two forums themed around the protection of designs and intellectual property, as well as innovative design have also been organized.

The 16,800-square-meter exhibition at the Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center is made up of three parts, displaying designs from China Patent Award-winning enterprises, shortlisted works from the 10th Taihu Award Design Competition, as well as innovative designs in various industries.
A total of 37 award-winning works that stood out from 3,527 participants of the 10th Taihu Award Design Competition are being displayed, including robots for medicine distribution and JD Logistics' smart express vehicles.
An online platform also opened to display works, as well as to host livestreams and matchmaking events, allowing more people to enjoy the latest technological design trends and products easily. The online platform is also expected to help raise the public's awareness of intellectual property protection and to promote the event widely.
Established in 2000, the China (Wuxi) International Design Expo is the only international design event sponsored by the National Intellectual Property Administration.
