Exports of daily-use ceramics from Yixing increased by 56.7 percent year-on-ear in the first six months of 2021, according to Yixing Customs.
The city of Yixing in East China's Jiangsu province, known as a "pottery capital", is rich in purple sand, which features strong water absorption abilities and air permeability when fired into utensils.
The historical and cultural resources represented by ceramics are an important driving force for the development of Yixing. The city is working to build an international central city featuring strong cultural resources such as ceramics, according to officials.
Bright Town, a cultural art-themed leisure town built in Dingshu town, Yixing, will start trail operations in November. Visitors traveling to the town will be able to enjoy countryside sightseeing and shopping and experience local culture.
In addition, the Yaohu Town tourism resort, expected to complete trial operations in 2022, will be built into a cultural and tourist town. It will have 2,500 guest rooms and a 100,000-square-meter exhibition center.
Yixing has introduced many such new tourism projects to cater to the city's growing demand for tourism products and services and facilitate its economic transition.
The city will also accelerate the development and industrialization of key technologies for high-precision functional ceramics and structural ceramics in an effort to promote the development of the non-metallic material industry.
