The 6th China Special Food Conference kicked off in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Oct 16.
The conference will run for four days, featuring over 10 activities and forums meant to promote the high-quality development of the special food industry in China.
Two innovation centers, the National Market Supervision Technology Innovation Center (Special Food) and the Wuxi Special Food and Nutrition and Health Research Institute, were launched at the opening ceremony.
In addition, the Wuxi High-tech Industrial Park was made the demonstration base for the special food industrial cluster of the China Nutrition and Health Food Association.
Tang Jun, deputy director of the State Administration for Market Regulation, said the event is important as thousands of academicians, experts and entrepreneurs gather in Wuxi to discuss the high-quality development of the special food industry and food safety.
Hu Gangjie, deputy governor of Jiangsu province, said that with the help of a solid industrial foundation, abundant innovation resources and a good business environment, Wuxi has managed to gather a number of leading special food companies, and established the first special food technology innovation center in China this year, which helped the city form a strong development model for the big health industry.
Wuxi Acting Mayor Zhao Jianjun noted that Wuxi will make use of its leading institutions, enterprises and national platforms to lead the development of the special food industry.
