In the ever-changing global climate, what remains unchanged is China's willingness to work hand in hand with other countries on its development path, and to share the development results with the rest of the world. The sister cities forum held on Dec 8 manifested Wuxi's determination to integrate into the new development paradigm along with its global partners.
Impressed by Wuxi's achievements over the years, Izumi Fusaho, mayor of Akashi city, Japan, and Uwe Richrath, mayor of Leverkusen, Germany, delivered opening speeches at the forum. The two cities have maintained long-term sister-city relationships with Wuxi.
According to Zhao Jianjun, acting mayor of the Wuxi Municipal People's Government, Wuxi is a leader in IoT, IC and bio-medicine, with nine 100-billion-yuan ($15.67 billion) industrial clusters. The city's cumulative foreign investments in actual use have exceeded $68 billion, and 104 Fortune 500 companies have established firms in Wuxi.
