Liangxi district, located in downtown Wuxi, is striving to improve its residents' living standards by carrying out a number of livelihood projects.
A total of 292 such projects receiving more than 11.9 billion yuan in investment were unveiled on Dec 18. Some of them have finished construction, while others will start construction soon.
The projects involve various fields related to people's livelihoods, including optimizing basic public services, improving people's living conditions, enriching cultural and sporting activities, ensuring public safety and improving social security.
The district started construction on 109 new parks this year, covering a total area of about 63 hectares, according to a three-year plan to add greenbelts that was released by the district.
The district renovated and rebuilt various old streets and farmer's markets in order to provide a more comfortable environment for residents.

More parking spaces are being provided in Liangxi district. A total of 180 parking spaces have been added on Jingouqiao Road to meet the demands of visitors to the Qingming Bridge scenic area and parents picking up children in surrounding schools.
The district also announced plans to build and move various kindergartens, primary and middle schools -- the Houqijie Primary School has been rebuilt into Caishuxiang Kindergarten, while the Jinxing Middle School has been expanded.
