The finals of the 2021 China Sailing City Super League opened at Lihu Lake in Binhu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 29.
More than 150 athletes from 11 cities, including Wuxi, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Ningbo, and Suzhou, will be competing for the championship over the next three days.
Held by the Chinese Yachting Association and Binhu district government, the competition is being streamed live on a number of platforms.
Binhu will work to provide good services for the event, said Sun Haidong, director of the district. He added that Lihu Lake boasts spectacular scenery with three national 5A-level scenic areas – the Lingshan Buddhist Scenic Spot, the CCTV Film and Television Base, and Yuantouzhu – which are expected to provide athletes with a wonderful experience.
Binhu has been focusing on developing its sports sector and building a complete and sustainable public service system for physical activities in recent years. It has held a number of sporting events, such as the road cycling race Tour of Taihu Lake and the Round Lihu Lake International Half Marathon, for the past few years.
