Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province once again made the list of the happiest cities in China in 2021 at the Happy Cities of China Forum 2021, which took place both online and offline in Beijing on Dec 30, 2021.
The city, located next to the celebrated Taihu Lake in southeast Jiangsu, won the title in the 2020 ranking for the long-term improvement of people's livelihoods, development, innovation, the environment, governance and city shape.
Hosted by Oriental Outlook magazine and the Liaowang Institute of the Xinhua News Agency, cities nationwide were evaluated based on a variety of indicators, including employment, income of residents, natural environment, city appeal, and public safety.
In recent years, Wuxi has been working to promote the high-quality development of the economy and society, strengthen environmental protection and attract more talent.
The year 2021 is the third year Wuxi has been named the top Chinese city for attracting talent and the second year it has been awarded for promoting employment.
The number of companies based in Wuxi included in the Top 500 lists of Chinese companies, manufacturing companies, service companies, and private companies ranks first in Jiangsu province. The total market value of the city's listed companies is also the highest in the province.
