Wuxi and Suzhou, two cities located in East China's Jiangsu province, will work to further interconnect transportation, according to a meeting held in Wuxi on Feb 8.
Du Xiaogang, Party secretary of Wuxi, attended the meeting. According to Du, with the opening of transportation facilities such as the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Southern Expressway, more solid external conditions are available for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
Du said that Wuxi and Suzhou are expected to work together more closely to speed up construction on an integrated transportation infrastructure network organically connected to rail transit, airports, highways, and waterways and increase the interconnectivity of transportation infrastructure in order to lay a solid foundation for the in-depth integration of the Yangtze River Delta.
Wu Xiaodong, vice-mayor of Suzhou, attended the meeting and suggested the two cities strengthen regional coordination by establishing a communication and coordination mechanism for the interconnection of transportation infrastructure, carrying out comprehensive matchmaking conferences to look for solutions to key problems facing the construction of basic infrastructure in two cities.
Wu noted that the interconnectivity of transportation in the two cities will make things more convenient for locals.
