Construction started on a total of 31 key projects worth 3.45 billion yuan ($546.41 million) in Liangxi district, Wuxi on March 5.
These new projects will bring in 1.71 billion yuan in investment this year to promote the development of tourist destinations, innovation carriers, and the living environment, according to officials.
Demaotang Hotel will serve as a cultural and recreational complex composed of hotels distributed along the ancient canal, allowing more tourists to enjoy the canal, according to Wang Bin, director of the engineering management department of Jiangsu Grand Canal Investment Group.

Wang said that a new ancient kiln bridge will be built on the south side of Qingming Bridge. The bridge will start from Dayao Road in the east and end at Nanchang Street in the west, aiming to connect the Kiln Group Site Museum with the Nanchang Street scenic area. Construction will start in July.
In addition, the overall environment of the Chong'an Temple commercial street, Yangming Street, Tonghong Road and Beichansi Alley will be improved.
In 2022, a total of 102 projects receiving a total of 158.82 billion yuan in investment will be carried out in Liangxi district. Among the projects, 52 are key projects focusing on advanced manufacturing, modern services and tourism.
