The first session of the 15th Wuxi Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) commenced on March 15 at the Wuxi Great Hall of the People, local media outlets reported.
The three-day session, which runs from March 15 to 17, is being attended by 375 members. They are set to review and summarize the work of the 14th CPPCC Wuxi Municipal Committee since 2017 and discuss the main work of the new CPPCC Wuxi Municipal Committee concerning the overall development situation and main tasks determined by the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee.
In addition, they will elect the 15th CPPCC Wuxi Municipal Committee leadership team and members of the Standing Committee, attend the first session of the 17th Wuxi Municipal People's Congress as non-voting delegates, and consult and discuss the government work report, other reports and the city's economic and social development plan.
As of 5 pm on March 14, the CPPCC proposal group has received more than 200 proposals from Wuxi's political advisors. Among them, promoting "dual-carbon" urban construction, developing the digital economy, improving after-school services, accelerating the pace of urban renewal, and optimizing the business environment are the most popular topics among local political advisors.
