A total of 10 projects meant to improve people's livelihoods in Wuxi won gold awards from the local government on March 18, as they were widely recognized by residents for improving their quality of life.
The 10 projects included the expansion and advanced treatment of the Jiubin Water Works, the full coverage of smart gas supervision, reconstruction of Hubin Commercial Street, the improvement of "vegetable basket" standards, the improvement of the living environment in rural areas, the treatment of lakes and rivers, the Wuxi Taihu Shopping Festival, free HPV vaccines, a renovation and upgrading project for residential power facilities and the reconstruction of Taihu Square.
In addition, 18 projects, including the protection of Yaogangkou in the Yangtze River ecological wetland, won silver awards.
The awarded projects were voted on by the public. Wuxi Mayor Zhao Jianjun said more than 33.7 million votes from local residents showed that such projects were very important to residents.
According to officials, by the end of 2021, Wuxi completed 1,291 projects meant to improve people's livelihoods, which were well-received by the public.
