The local government of Wuxi received a letter of thanks recently from Norio Nakajima, president of Japan Murata Manufacturing Co.
As one of the first foreign companies to set up operations in Wuxi, Murata Electronics initiated its 25-year journey in the city's Singapore Industrial Park in the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District in 1994. The company officially started production one year later, mainly working in electronic components, particilarly multilayer ceramic capacitors.
According to the letter, the normal operation of Wuxi Murata was disrupted by the COVID-19 epidemic, and the company sought help from the Wuxi government.
The local government took immediate action to ensure a sufficient supply of raw materials for the company's production within two days.
The company's executives were thankful for the help and said they would work to ensure production safety while strictly implementing epidemic prevention and control measures.
Workers from the local commerce bureau said that in light of the new wave of COVID-19, they have been working to ensure smooth entry and exit at local airports, adopting sea-rail combined transportation and China-Europe trains to ensure the transportation of cargo, and making full use of ports to stabilize industrial and supply chains.
In order to ensure the smooth customs clearance of goods, Wuxi customs has also formulated a special action plan to promote cross-border trade, prevent the spread of the virus at the port and promote the steady growth of foreign trade.
