Kader Ali from Djibouti, a doctoral student at Jiangnan University, has been assisting the fight against the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.
Ali applied to be a volunteer after learning that his residential community of Nanyuan was short of volunteers.

His tasks include informing local residents of mass testing, guiding people during mass testing, and distributing nucleic acid test proofs.
"It is my way to pay back Wuxi," said Ali, adding that he has been touched by the kindness of Wuxi residents during his seven years of study in the city.
"I feel grateful to live in the city as there are favorable policies and a good social environment and I'm not treated differently because of my color," he added.

Ali hopes to meet more people and learn more about the city's culture, customs and measures to contain the pandemic through this volunteer stint.
He added that he feels happy to contribute to the fight against Covid-19 and hopes that he can encourage more international friends to join the fight.
