Wuxi authorities recently released a report on the development of child-related undertakings in the city last year.
In 2021, Wuxi built another 57 kindergartens and 25 kindergartens received provincial recognition.
Wuxi offers free eye exams for children under six, with 99.77 percent of eligible children receiving the exam in 2021.
The city purchased health insurance for juveniles from poverty-stricken families and mobilized social forces to subsidize more than 11,000 poverty-stricken students in the same year.

Subsidies for raising an orphan in Wuxi increased to 2,665 yuan ($399.96) per month on average, the highest in Jiangsu province.
The neonatal mortality rate in the city was 1.4 per thousand, the infant mortality rate was 1.98 per thousand, and the mortality of children under five was 3.17 per thousand in 2021, all within the minimum standard.
To promote high-quality development, Wuxi listed the construction of a child-friendly city in its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and built its first child-friendly block in Wuxi Economic Development Zone last year.
