Despite the heat, building workers in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, are working to ensure the timely completion of major projects on time amid sporadic outbreak of COVID-19 in the city.
Construction recently started on the second phase of subway line 4. To avoid the affects of the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuxi, more than 100 construction workers at the site just travel between the construction site and their dormitories every day.
The No 312 national highway construction project is also being carried out in the city. According to the director of the project, the 200 construction workers have been arranged to work different hours and avoid the hottest times of the day.
In addition to high temperature and the pandemic, construction workers of the Yixing-Mashan expressway are facing difficulties brought about by flood season.
The project director said that they are shipping building materials on sunny days and have set up a team to be responsible for the delivery of these materials to the construction site to ensure they are not infected with COVID-19.
