Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province witnessed the publication of the Annual Report on the Development of New Media in China No 13 (2022) on Aug 16.
This is the second year that the Institute of Journalism and Communication Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Science and the Cyberspace Affairs Office of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee have hosted the event in Wuxi.
The report analyzes the situations and development trends of new media in China and is expected to provide references for governmental departments, new media institutions, and media workers.
Dozens of experts in new media wrote the report and discussed topics related to communication models of new media, the application of audio-visual technologies, the online audiovisual industry, and the behavior of social media users.

At the launch ceremony, the Institute of Journalism and Communication Studies, the Cyberspace Affairs Office of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, and the administrative committee of Shanshui City in Wuxi clinched a strategic cooperation agreement.
The institute will establish three research centers to explore how to integrate media development in counties, make short videos, improve the profile of a city, develop intelligent media and modernize national governance capabilities.
In addition, the Blue Book of the Development of New Media in Wuxi (2021) was also published that same day. Besides the general situation of the city's new media, the report summarizes the problems encountered by new media and new media's profound influence.
