Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province was listed as a pilot city for the construction of 15-minute convenient living circles in an effort to bring more convenience to the public, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Commerce.
The 15-minute convenient living circles give local residents access to basic living needs and high-quality goods and services within a 15-minutes walk.
The city launched the initiative last year by creating a comfortable living environment and developing residential community-centered businesses.

This year, Wuxi has established three grass-root comprehensive cultural service centers and 60 community-centered farm markets and started building three neighborhood centers.
"Wuxi will take the pilot project as an opportunity to make it more convenient to live in the city," said an official from the municipal bureau of commerce.
He added that property service enterprises will be encouraged to get involved in elderly care, childcare, housekeeping, and mail services.
Self-service convenience stores, intelligent delivery lockers, intelligent take-out lockers, and intelligent cabinet freezers will be available in all local communities, according to the official.
Wuxi also recently initiated the certification of demonstration communities in 15-minute convenient living circles and published relevant evaluation criteria. This year, it plans to cultivate 17 such demonstration communities.
