Yixing, a county-level city in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, has experienced rapid economic development over the past decade with its GDP jumping from 108.60 billion yuan ($15.71 billion) in 2012 to 208.22 billion yuan in 2021.
Yixing has made full use of its advantages in natural environment. The wilderness in the mountainous area of southern Yixing has transformed into a popular tourism site – the Yangxian Xishan scenic area.
To protect its green mountains and clear waters, the city has shut down more than 2,000 enterprises since the beginning of last year and cooperated with countries such as the Netherlands and Finland to build 13 clean technology transfer centers.

It has also constructed a green and low-carbon industrial system featuring emerging industries, including new energy, and has been improving its innovation capacity.
The Yixing International Life Science Industrial Park started operating in October last year and has gathered more than 20 biological medicine enterprises, while the 50-billion-yuan Yixing Science and Technology City is currently under construction.
This year, the city launched a three-year action to build its scientific innovation capacity, and it aims to cultivate a number of innovation enterprises and industrial clusters with international competitiveness.

Yixing is also planning its future from a global perspective. Improving its international profile has become a focus of the city's new round of opening up and high-quality development.
In recent years, it has also taken the initiative to take part in Yangtze River Delta integration and sought further improvement in industrial development and talent introduction.
