Xishan district in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, has made remarkable achievements in economic and social development over the past 10 years.
The district's GDP increased from nearly 50 billion yuan ($7.07 billion) in 2011 to 112.87 billion yuan in 2021 while its general public budget revenue grew from 4.58 billion yuan to 11.03 billion yuan over the same period.

The output of industries above designated size in Xishan also rose from 105.02 billion yuan to 190.78 billion yuan while that of high-tech industries in the district climbed from 33.28 billion yuan to 97.12 billion yuan.
The number of enterprises above designated size increased from 564 in 2011 to 920 in 2021.
Xishan's natural environment has also been further improved with 81.7 percent of the days in 2021 with water quality rated good for three consecutive years.

Residents in Xishan have lived a better life. The per capita disposal income of the district's urban residents increased from 31,745 yuan to 67,218 yuan over the past 10 years. In 2011, the per capita income of rural residents was 16,399 while in 2021, their per capita disposal income was 40,052.
The district also boasts a more balanced urban-rural development with the ratio of urban to rural residents' income narrowing to 1.68.
