Feng Chunxiao, Party secretary of Yixing, a county-level city in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, met with Tetsuro Homma, vice-president of Panasonic Group, on Oct 9 to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation.
Feng briefed Homma on Yixing's economic and social development, saying that Yixing boasts balanced development in industry, environment, and culture, as it is located at the center of the Yangtze River Delta.
He added that in recent years, Yixing has been pursuing high-quality development by practicing innovation-driven strategies and supporting the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries such as electric wires and non-metallic materials.
The city has also ramped up efforts to develop strategic and emerging industries, including integrated circuits, new energy, and health in an effort to lead counties in China in comprehensive competitiveness, according to the Party secretary.
Feng noted that Yixing is focusing on improving its international profile and expressed hope that Panasonic will make use of its advanges to cooperate with Yixing in more fields.
Homma introduced Panasonic's businesses in China and Wuxi, noting that the group entered Chinese market in 1978 and has been cooperating with Wuxi ever since.
Homma said that Panasonic operates six enterprises in Wuxi, and since 2019 when Panasonic worked with Yada International Holdings to build the health and intelligent community in Yixing, the group has maintained close contact with the city.
He also expects to enhance communication and cooperation with Yixing in the future.
