Wuxi shines at Macao Intl Trade and Investment Exhibition

Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province attended the 27th Macao International Trade and Investment Exhibition, which took place in Macao from Oct 20 to 22.

The local government sent 15 local enterprises with more than 200 exhibits to the event in a bid to help local enterprises expand into international markets.

Wuxi's exhibition area at the event consists of six zones showing its favorable natural environment, rich tourism resources, modern industries, digital transformation, delicacies, and opening up efforts through words, photos, videos, performances, and physical experiences.

Popular products of Wuxi enterprises, including electromobiles from Yadea, traditional Chinese medicine from Tianjiang, and cylinder washing machines from Little Swan, were on display.

"These products were selected from the city's competitive industries and are tailored to the demand of industries and people's daily lives in Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries," said an official from the Wuxi municipal bureau of commerce.

John Lee Ka-chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, visited Wuxi's exhibition area and listened to an introduction to Liuqing bamboo carving, a national intangible cultural heritage item of the city.

At the 12th Jiangsu-Macao Industrial and Commercial Summit for Portuguese-speaking Countries held on Oct 20, a representative from Wuxi introduced the city's transportation, innovation, and livability in hopes of deepening exchanges with Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries in the future.

Wuxi already boasts close relations with Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. To date, investors from Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries have invested in 138 projects costing $910 million in Wuxi.

In 2021, Wuxi's trade with Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries and regions was valued at $1.32 billion, up 45.6 percent year-on-year. The city saw a 558.2 percent year-on-year increase in trade with Macao in the same year.
