Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has made an appearance at the ongoing fifth China International Import Expo, which is held from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai.
Wuxi exhibits range from high technologies to time-honored brands.
An intelligent cockpit, developed by the Wuxi-based Auto Link World and Bosch intelligent driving and control division on display at the expo, features five screens and nine cameras.
"We hope to showcase China's intelligent vehicle technologies to the world through CIIE and also expect to cooperate with more world-leading automakers," said Chang Kun, product manager of Auto Link World, which provides products and services related to intelligent connected vehicles.
The booth of time-honored iron cookware brand Wangyuanji has been made to resemble an old-fashioned kitchen where visitors are transported back to their childhoods.
Wuxi has also taken the initiative to negotiate with exhibitors and attract more foreign investment at the expo.
AstraZeneca announced on the first day of the fifth CIIE that it will invest 100 million yuan ($13.83 million) in Wuxi's global supply base to introduce new production lines for manufacturing medicines for hyperkalemia and move its production line for Nexium injections, a kind of stomach medicine, to the base.
GE Healthcare inked a strategic cooperation agreement with the Wuxi review and verification center of the Jiangsu Medical Products Administration.
The city will also organize a series of activities involving international cooperation, procurement, and investment promotion during the expo.
Wuxi has sent a delegation of 1,205 enterprises and 4,931 visitors to the fifth CIIE, and they are expected to reach intended deals worth more than $1 billion.
