The new factory of Wuxi Murata Electronics Co broke ground in Wuxi National Hi-tech District, or Xinwu district, in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 12.
With a total investment of about 2.55 billion yuan ($358.75 million), the new factory will include workshops producing nanoscale ceramic film, which will feature improved manufacturing techniques and increased efficiency.
After the factory is put into operation, the annual sales revenue of Wuxi Murata Electronics is expected to double to over $20 billion yuan and further consolidate its leading position in the electronics industry.
Since it started building a presence in Wuxi in 1994, Murata Manufacturing Co has continued expanding its investment in Wuxi, and the new factory is its largest investment project in the city to date.
Wuxi Murata Electronics Co is the largest Chinese production center of Murata Manufacturing Co and has become a global leader in a number of electronic products, including ceramic capacitors, filters, and high-frequency components.
As a renowned hub of foreign investment from Japan, South Korea, Europe and America, Wuxi is currently home to 218 companies funded by 108 Global Fortune 500 enterprises.
In the first three quarters of this year, the actual utilization of foreign capital totaled $3.3 billion, up 53.7 percent year-on-year.
