World Internet of Things Exposition 2022 wraps up in Wuxi

The World Internet of Things Exposition 2022 concluded in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 27.

The three-day event witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements on more than 80 projects with a combined investment of over 50 billion yuan ($6.94 billion).

It also invited 240 exhibitors from 10 countries and regions to showcase their latest products.

For example, Nreal debuted its augmented reality glasses, which can be connected to mobile phones.

The expo also set up an interactive experience exhibition for information consumption to showcase information consumption products made in Jiangsu and to allow visitors to experience intelligent applications and driving.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the expo this year was limited in scale. Nearly 10,000 people visited the exhibition via advance reservation and over 7 million people watched livestreams and the online metaverse exhibition hall during the event.

In addition, 11 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering launched "Wuxi Initiatives" on accelerating the high-quality development of the IoT industry.

Since it was approved in 2016, the World Internet of Things Expo has been held six times, with more than 50 countries and regions participating in the event.

After years of development, IoT has become Wuxi's signature industry. The city adopts the model of "using applications to drive industry and boost the high-quality development of the digital economy".

The digital economy in Wuxi has entered a new stage. IoT has become an important engine for the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy.

The city currently has more than 3,000 companies involved in IoT industry, with an output value of more than 350 billion yuan.
