The Xiju Opera film Rain in Jiangnan received awards at the 10th Asia Pacific Film Festival New Zealand, which recently concluded in Auckland.

The film won the Best Opera Film Award and director Yin Dawei won the Best Opera Film Director Award.
Before the international film festival, the film had won awards at the fifth Chinese Opera Film Exhibition this year.

Produced by the Wuxi Xiju Opera Theater and Chinese Dramatists Association, Rain in Jiangnan discusses self-salvation by portraying a concubine's emotional struggle between her husband and her former lover.

The film will make its debut at Wuxi's theater on Dec 14.
