Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province was listed among the 11 happiest cities in China in 2021 at the Happy Cities of China Forum 2022, which took place in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, on Dec 21.
It was the third time that the city has made the list.
Sponsored by the Oriental Outlook magazine and the Liaowang Institute of the Xinhua News Agency, cities nationwide were evaluated based on a variety of indicators, including employment, incomes, natural environment, city appeal, and public safety.

Located next to the celebrated Taihu Lake in southeast Jiangsu, Wuxi boasts a long history, beautiful natural environment, thriving economy and efficient public services.
With a comfortable climate, broad and tidy roads, and scenic landscapes, the city has been rated the most livable city on the Chinese mainland for the past three years.
Wuxi led the country again in per capita GDP in the first half of the year and ranked 17th worldwide on a list of the most intelligent cities.

In the first three quarters of this year, the city's GDP exceeded 1 trillion yuan ($143.38 billion), its actual utilization of foreign capital totaled $3.8 billion, and its imports and exports hit a record 554.36 billion yuan.
Wuxi has the most companies included in Top 500 lists of Chinese companies, manufacturing companies, service companies, and private companies in Jiangsu province.
The city has built a complete system to ensure residents' wellbeing and has made exercise facilities and books more accessible to them.
