Serving as an artery of the mighty Grand Canal, the Wuxi Ancient Canal was dug during the Sui Dynasty about 1,500 years ago.

The Qingming Bridge Historic and Cultural Block in the downtown area stands out with a maze of streams and Jiangnan-style buildings, making it the most popular tourist attraction in Wuxi.

The Qingming Bridge is the oldest, largest and best-preserved single-hole stone arch bridge in Wuxi. It was built during the Ming Dynasty over 400 years ago.

The brilliantly balanced water and land transport networks here displays the wisdom of the former Wuxi natives, and all households are flanked by a street and a river to make it more convenient for the locals.

Residents here enjoy a leisurely pace of life. They grow flowers and hang their laundry outside their window, and drink tea and play chess by the canal. The houses, the bridges, the rivers, and the flowers all create a wonderful scene.
