The GDP of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province registered a 3 percent year-on-year increase in 2022 to reach nearly 1.49 trillion yuan ($219.82 billion), ranking third in the province, according to the Wuxi municipal bureau of statistics.
The added value of industries above designated size in the city exceeded 500 billion yuan, reaching 558.60 billion yuan, up 5.4 percent from the previous year.
The output value of the city's strategic industries and high-tech manufacturing industries accounted for 41.5 percent and 50.4 percent of that of industries above designated size respectively.
The retail sales of wearable smart devices, smartphones, smart household appliances, as well as audio and video equipment increased by 17.6 percent, 29.8 percent, and 430 percent compared to the previous year.
Investment in infrastructure, high-tech industries, and strategic industries grew 21 percent, 8.6 percent, and 7.6 percent year-on-year, while investment in health care and education increased 53.3 percent and 35.4 percent from 2021.
The per capita disposable income of Wuxi residents in 2022 was 65,800 yuan, 1.8 times the national average. The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents in the city reached 73,300 yuan and 41,900 yuan respectively, 1.5 times and 4.19 times the national averages.
Last year, Wuxi also created 158,100 new jobs and brought in more than 100,000 university graduates.
