The first commercial intelligent connected vehicles were put into service in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on March 1.
These ICVs include unmanned patrol vehicles, intelligent express delivery vehicles, driverless taxis, driverless minibuses, and outdoor delivery service robots.
The first fast urban roads in the city to open to ICVs include the section from Zhenze Road to Nanquan toll station and the section from Xihu Road to Xiyu Road.
Automatic driving enterprises – WeRide, Utopilot, Autowise.ai, JD, and Excelland AI – have also received licenses to test their intelligent vehicles in Wuxi.
On the same day, a company in charge of the construction and operation of ICV business in Wuxi was inaugurated and a cooperation agreement was inked between Xishan district, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp Ltd, Southeast University and Wuxi Communications Group to build an automatic driving technique laboratory.
