"I feel excited and inspired by the development of special industries in rural areas mentioned in the government report," said Ouyang Hua, secretary of the general Party branch of Baita village in Yixing, a county-level of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, in a recent interview with Wuxi Daily.
Ouyang is also a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress, which is being held in Beijing from March 5 to 13.
He made a suggestion on promoting nighttime culture, economy, and life in rural areas, which would constitute a pivot in special rural industries.
In 2022, Baita village brought in a steel flower performing art project with a total investment of 300 million yuan ($43.44 million), which has benefited local high-end homestays and the catering industry.
Ouyang also believes that to promote nighttime culture, economy, and life, rural areas should make full use of their unique culture and agricultural produce to distinguish themselves from other places.
More and more people returning to rural areas are starting businesses that make use of live streaming. A few years ago, Ouyang tried marketing local produce via livestream.
To attract and retain such people, the NPC deputy suggested establishing a talent incentive mechanism and increasing access to loans. He also suggested further improving logistics, storage, and other infrastructure facilities in rural areas and offering more livestream training sessions to migrant workers.
