The opening ceremony of the 2023 International Student Summer School for the "Belt and Road" University Alliance on Food Science and Education was held at Jiangnan University in Binhu district, Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Aug 18.
The event brought together nearly 100 students from 15 universities in eight countries, including the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, the Czech Republic, University of Wroclaw in Poland, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Bogor Agricultural University in Indonesia.
Scheduled to last a week, the summer school offers a wide range of activities, including academic discussions, practical training, campus tours, and cultural experiences. In addition, the event will feature a creative baking-themed competition, aiming to inspire a greater appreciation for Chinese food culture among participating students while enhancing the global influence of Chinese food studies.
Du Guocheng, vice-principal of Jiangnan University, highlighted the significance of this event, expressing the university's commitment to further propel innovation in international food technology and contribute to the high-quality development of the food industry.
