Ardi Barnard, consul general of New Zealand in Shanghai, and Qi Jun, chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand, led a 26-member delegation to Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, from Nov 9 to 10.
The delegation toured Xuelang Town to learn about the city's progress in smart city, the internet of things, and intelligent equipment. They also visited WuXi Biologics to get an understanding of the company's biomedical platform, new medicine development, digital energy management, and global presence and discuss cooperation with it.

Delegates from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand met with representatives from Wuxi's e-commerce businesses to explore e-commerce cooperation between the two places.
Zhou Wendong, vice-mayor of Wuxi, said at a meeting with the guests that the city values friendly exchanges with New Zealand and as early as 1986 forged sister-city relations with Hamilton, the fourth largest city in New Zealand.
Zhou added that Wuxi is willing to promote bilateral investment, expand people-to-people exchanges, and further industry-university-institute cooperation with New Zealand.

Barnard said that he was impressed by Wuxi's landscape and profound histotry during his March visit and that he will gain an overall understanding of the city's economy, society, history, and culture from this visit.
He noted that the consulate general will play an active role in assisting the two places' economic and trade cooperation, cultural and tourism resource introduction, and sister-city exchanges.
Qi also expressed his willingness to help construct an exchange and cooperation platform between Wuxi and New Zealand.
