South Korea is one of the countries with a large number of Wuxi's sister cities and also the city's largest trade partner and an important foreign investment source, he said.
Du added that Gimhae is Wuxi's first South Korean sister city and that over the years, the two sides have cooperated closely in trade, culture, education, and tourism.
He also expressed hope that both sides will carry out friendly exchanges in cultural inheritance, preservation of cultural relics, and juvenile activities and promote cooperation in the construction of biological medicine industrial parks.

Hong Tae-yong, mayor of Gimhae, said at the meeting that Gimhae is developing industrial parks exclusively for medical devices while Wuxi is competitive in the biological medicine industry. Therefore, the two sides have a broad prospect of cooperation.
Wuxi forged a sister-city relationship with Gimhae in 2005 and since then they have experienced increasingly closer exchanges with many of their respective universities and high schools having become sister schools and hosting numerous activities in culture, art, and education.
