The first phase of the Wuxi International Conference Center in the Wuxi Economic Development District, East China's Jiangsu province, will be put into use this year, local media reported on Nov 14.
The most eye-catching aspect of its design is its roof's resemblance to Taihu stone, which is a specialty of Wuxi and is a type of rock with holes that was widely used in classical Chinese gardens.

Glass curtain walls with blind design create a simple and dynamic exterior while the metal lattice on the roof vividly imitates Taihu stones' porous feature.
Serving as the permanent site of the World Internet of Things Exposition, the 71,000-square-meter first phase includes multi-function halls, assembly halls, conference rooms, office spaces, and part of the Shangxian River Wetland Park.

Covering an area of 10,000 square meters, the Taihu Lake Hall is capable of accommodating more than 10,000 people and can be divided into four separate spaces.
In addition, the conference center's Central Hall will be open to the public for relaxation or exhibitions.
With low-carbon design and intelligent manufacturing the conference center is eco-friendly. For example, the photovoltaic panels on the roof will satisfy public lighting demands.
