The first phase of the subway line three in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, won the 2022-23 China Construction Engineering Luban Award, the most prestigious construction award in China, at an award ceremony held in Beijing on Dec 10.
Construction of the subway line started in 2016 and the first phase was opened to traffic in 2020. Spanning 28.5 kilometers, the subway line has 21 underground stations.

The whole line runs northwest to southeast from Sumiao to Shuofang airport and passengers can transfer to subway lines one, two, and four at Wuxi Railway, Jinghai and Sheng'an stations respectively.
It not only connects Wuxi New District, Liangxi and Huishan districts, but also connects the Airport Industrial Park, Wuxi Central Bus Station, and WND Intercity Station, providing strong support to the expansion of urban space.

The first phase has also been equipped with the smart intercity station flexible sensing and intelligent control system and used 10 new construction industry technologies.
As early as 2016, the city's entire subway line one became the first in the rail transit industry to win the National Quality Engineering Gold Award.
