The Wuxi Academy of Calligraphy and Painting Aesthetic Space in Jiangsu province kicked off a national sculpture exhibition on Jan 26.
The exhibition showcases sculptures depicting winners of the State Science and Technology Top Award and China's Two Bombs and One Satellite Medal, including Qian Xuesen (1911-2009), "Father of Chinese Aerospace", distinguished physicist Zhou Guangzhao, and Tu Youyou, the first female Chinese Nobel laureate.
By reproducing classic scenes and their respective figures, the exhibition pays tribute to these scientists while demonstrating the development of scientific and technological undertakings in China.
Sculptors across the country have been invited to contribute a combined 50 sculptures to the exhibition.
Sponsored by the Institute of Sculpture Art at Nanjing University and the Wuxi municipal bureau of culture, broadcasting and tourism, the biennial exhibition will run until Feb 25.
