To mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and the Year of China-France Culture and Tourism, the Wuxi-France Cooperation and Exchange Meeting and "French Day" event, as one of the apogees at the 2024 Wuxi International Month, opened on March 20 in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.
Several strategic cooperation projects were signed between the Wuxi China-EU Industrial Innovation Zone and European economic and trade exchange and cooperation organizations, a testament to a deepening and dynamic relationship between the two sides.
"The Wuxi International Month, a remarkable annual event at the Yangtze River Delta region or even in China, echoes active exchanges between Wuxi and France", said Joan Valadou, Consul General of France in Shanghai, at the launching meeting. "Energy and environment are key areas of our partnership, and we also expand ties in the medical field", he added.
In 2007, Wuxi established a sister-city relationship with Nimes in France, witnessing closer and more extensive exchanges and cooperation through time. Leading French companies, such as Schneider and Legrand, have invested in Wuxi, with a total of 48 investment projects worth $980 million.

The activities include "Encountering Nimes" - a photo exhibition which showcases picturesque scenery and profound cultural heritage of Nimes, "Cultural France" Metro Lines decorated with iconic French cultural elements and images of landmarks, and also French Cuisine Class, which teach students majoring in cuisine to cook authentic French tastes.
