Wuxi in Jiangsu province has set its eyes on becoming a reputed industrial and commercial city, according to a press conference held on May 27.
The city will accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, continue improving the natural environment, integrate into regional development strategies, and preserve its traditional culture.
It will also promote the in-depth integration of scientific and industrial innovation, upgrade traditional industries, expand emerging industries, and foster future industries as it seeks to become a provincial hub for developing new quality productive forces.

By 2027, emerging industries and high and new technological industries are expected to account for 43 percent and 55 percent of the total number of industries in the city, while the output of its future industries such as AI and low-altitude economy is expected to exceed 200 billion yuan ($27.59 billion).
Wuxi plans to invest more than 10 billion yuan in treating Taihu Lake each year, ensuring the water quality of the city's 13 rivers running into the lake qualify for Grade II, which means the water can be used as drinking water and for fisheries.

The city is a participant in as well as a significant beneficiary of the Yangtze River Delta integration strategy. Focusing on interconnectivity, industrial innovation, and people's wellbeing, it has taken great efforts to serve and integrate into the Shanghai metropolitan area.
Wuxi will also preserve and develop its history, industrial and commercial culture, and entrepreneurial culture, build cultural brands such as Pearl of Taihu Lake, the Grand Canal, and Su Dongpo, and expand the influence of its landmark industries such as digital film.
