Residents of Paris, France recently reveled in a pop-up show featuring traditional Chinese dances and folk music from Wuxi, Jiangsu province.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. The flash show is expected to familiarize French people with China's folk music and the city of Wuxi.
Young musicians and dancers from the city gathered from every corner of Paris under the Eiffel Tower and at the Place Charles de Gaulle Square to stage the show accompanied by the erhu masterpiece The Moon Reflected on the Erquan Spring.
Kimmo Mattila, secretary-general of the International Confederation of Accordionists, encountered the surprise show, saying that it was the first time that he has had a close look at traditional Chinese musical instruments. He was fascinated by them and expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Violinist Lyv Wei, one of the performers, noted that although the French audience may not be able to fully understand the story behind the song, the notes could nevertheless produce a wonderful resonance with them.
