Nearly 40 officials from seven countries including Egypt, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka visited Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on June 27 to learn about its experience in rural vitalization.
They visited Xiedaidang village in Xishan district and Taoyuan village in Huishan district to learn about the city's experiences and achievements in vitalizing rural areas.

While appreciating the pleasant rural scenery in Xiedaidang, the foreign guests listened to an explanation of the village's efforts in developing its agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries.
Xiedaidang is also focusing on the aquaculture industry, environmentally friendly agriculture, catering and accommodation to transform itself into an attractive water town with countryside scenery.

They arrived in Taoyuan village in the afternoon and learned about how the village capitalized on idle houses and set up a business incubation base, attracting natives back to their hometown to start businesses.
The foreign guests all agreed that Wuxi has obtained a wealth of experience in building new rural areas and developing its new economy. They also said that the experience inspired them to develop rural areas in their own countries.
The Wuxi visit is part of a training program organized by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, which invites officials from developing countries to learn about China's efforts in sustainable development and poverty alleviation.
