As a rail-sea intermodal train pulled out of the Wuxi West Station Logistics Park on Sept 3, such trains in Wuxi have delivered over 300,000 twenty-foot equivalent units with a total value of about 85 billion yuan ($11.95 billion) over the past five years.

The 100 twenty-foot equivalent units on the train will be shipped to Europe after being delivered to Shanghai Yangshan Port.

On the same day, the logistics park also commenced daily operation of the rail-sea intermodal trains to satisfy the high demand for import and export goods in the city.

Compared to road transport, sea-rail intermodal transportation can assist companies in saving approximately 15 percent of logistics costs, cutting the cargo delay rate by around 20 percent, and slashing carbon emissions in the transportation process by roughly 80 percent.
