Fifty students and teachers from the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Jiangnan University recently brought artistic vitality to the villages of Wuxi, Jiangsu province.
These students and teachers were split into six groups to design six artworks with distinctive features that would blend harmoniously with nature. They achieved this by using locally sourced materials over the course of the weeklong activity.
Inspired by the touching stories during the war of resistance against Japan, the art group in Pushi village, Jiangyin, illuminates the reeds against the red veil with light, creating a dreamy and enchanting ambiance for passersby.

The art group in Weishe village, known for its rich fishing heritage in Xishan district, have created an art installation by the lake. This installation features a white fishing net that symbolizes the lake's surface, with the middle section designed to resemble a fish basket. Additionally, there is a wooden deck where villagers can sit to fish or relax.

The art installation by the design group in Wanma village, Huishan district, features two crescent-moon-shaped units, which replicate the splashing pattern of raindrops falling on the water to arouse tourists' longing for the Jiangnan watertown.
This activity serves as more than a mere practical endeavor that integrates art with the countryside. It also provides modern young students with a tangible, hands-on experience, enabling them to intimately engage with villagers and the rural landscape.
Dai Quan, director of the Wuxi municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, emphasized the vitality and vigor in the city's rural areas, noting that these areas need young generations to explore their value and make innovations; vice versa, the young generations can also chase their dreams and prove their self-worth here.
