World IoT Expo provides insight into intelligent connectivity

The World Internet of Things Exposition 2024 commenced in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on Nov 11, bringing together global IoT industry elites to explore the sector's cutting-edge technologies, applications, and future trends.

François Coallier, chairman of the International IoT and Digital Twin Standard Committee, emphasized at the opening ceremony that IoT signifies not only a technological revolution, but also a profound shift reshaping various facets of daily life.

Coallier added that Wuxi stands not just as China's IoT hub but also as a pivotal force propelling global IoT advancement, as the city spearheads the formulation of the inaugural international standard for sensor networks, with local industry experts making substantial contributions to sensor network and IoT standardization.

Xie Shaofeng, an official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, praised Wuxi as the pioneer city of IoT industry in China. The city has established the sole national-level advanced manufacturing cluster dedicated to IoT, with the IoT industry serving as a hallmark for Wuxi.

The 2024 IoT Innovation Development Taihu Index, released at the opening ceremony, positions Wuxi's IoT industry at the forefront in terms of industrial competitiveness, ecosystem establishment, and various other metrics.

Since 2009, Wuxi has formed a complete IoT industrial chain covering information perception, transmission networking, computing storage, and application processing.

In 2023, the city's total IoT-related industrial output exceeded 450 billion yuan ($62.24 billion), leading the province and ranking at the forefront nationwide.

Over the three-day event, Wuxi is expected to secure 33 IoT-related projects worth 31.28 billion yuan, focusing on areas such as low-altitude detection radar and intelligent computing power.
