The Jiangnan Beauty Bay, a beauty and healthcare industrial park, officially opened in Xinwu district, Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on April 2. Over 20 key projects, enterprises, institutions, and platforms signed agreements to join the park.

With a total investment of 500 million yuan ($68.82 million), the park is a joint initiative between Jiangnan University and Xinwu district. Specializing in synthetic biology, it provides full-industrial-chain services, supporting businesses in project launch, innovation, commercialization, and market expansion.

The park hosts companies across various industry segments, including research and development, testing and inspection, technical consulting, functional ingredients, branding, and live streaming. Among them is Dexter, a Wuxi-based baby skincare brand and the first in its field to surpass 1 billion yuan in revenue in China. The company has been operating in a 3,000-square-meter space within Jiangnan Beauty Bay for the past two months.

At the opening ceremony, several major initiatives were launched. The China Association of Fragrance, Flavor, and Cosmetic Industries, China Cleaning Industry Association, and China Oral Care Industry Association established a collaborative research base; A research commercialization center focusing on skin repair, anti-aging, and scar treatment was launched; Jiangnan University and Grasse Institute of Perfumery announced the construction of a joint laboratory.

The event also saw the launch of a fund aimed at supporting outstanding Chinese brands in expanding internationally. Peng Song, a partner at Midas Investment, one of the fund's initiators, noted that Chinese beauty brands are strengthening their market presence and operational capabilities.

Chen Wei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Jiangnan University, said that Jiangnan University, as one of the first institutes in China to engage in cosmetics research, has developed a comprehensive research framework and talent cultivation system. The university will continue to leverage its strengths to support the advancement of Wuxi's beauty and healthcare industry, Chen added.

Zhang Jinwei, head of Xinwu district, announced ambitious goals for the next five years. The district aims to attract over 30 leading beauty enterprises, incubate at least five local companies with annual revenues exceeding 1 billion yuan, and establish a beauty and healthcare sector with a total output value exceeding 10 billion yuan in 2025.
