Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has recently made significant progress in facilitating the residence and employment of foreign professionals by integrating foreign work permit information into social security cards.
The new card preserves its traditional functionalities while incorporating foreign work permit information. This integration provides cardholders with an "all-in-one-card" solution for a variety of services, including social security, healthcare, transportation, and payment transactions.
Yamaguchi Kazutaka, an international expert from KMK Technology (Wuxi), recently acquired the inaugural physical version of the new social security card issued within the city at the Changjiangbei Road branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. He said, "I'm honored to be the first foreigner in Wuxi to receive the new social security card."
Foreigners visiting Wuxi, whether first-time travelers or those currently employed in the city, may submit their valid identification documents, such as foreign permanent residence permits or passports, at the Changjiangbei Road branch of ICBC or the Business Department of the Bank of China Wuxi Branch to register for the social security card. This card is available for immediate collection, and recipients will also receive an electronic version of their social security card.
