Zhao Jianjun, mayor of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province, convened with Maria Gustava, Mozambique's Ambassador to China, in Wuxi on June 2 to further strengthen diplomatic relations and explore avenues for expanded cooperation.
The meeting occurred during the visit of the Mozambican delegation to the Chinese city, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Following a brief overview of Wuxi's recent economic and social development, Zhao articulated hopes that the Embassy of Mozambique in China will play a key role in supporting the strategic opportunities presented by the Belt and Road Initiative in both regions. This includes strengthening trade exchanges, supporting Wuxi enterprises in local development, and maintaining the stability of the international industrial supply chain.
Professionals from all sectors in Mozambique are invited to visit Wuxi for inspection, tourism, and sightseeing, boosting friendly exchanges between the two parties in areas such as culture, sports, tourism, elderly care, and education, he added. Wuxi is committed to encouraging and supporting local enterprises to invest and develop within Mozambique.
Gustava expressed hope that this visit would serve as a new starting point for strengthening communication with Wuxi, expanding partnership opportunities, and working together toward accelerating the development of China-Mozambique relations in broader, deeper, and higher-level areas.
