How far is it from "having a patch of green" to "the whole city becoming an emerald oasis"? In Wuxi, the answer can be found in the parks just outside your front door.
According to local municipal authorities, Wuxi completed the construction and renovation of 68 parks in 2025, significantly increasing the city's green spaces.
Since the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the city has cumulatively built or renovated over 300 parks. Each of these has become an indispensable source of happiness for local residents. These parks are all-age friendly, rich in functionality, and well-equipped with seating, public toilets, drinking water facilities, and sports venues.

"We no longer focus solely on the beauty of individual parks; instead, we emphasize how they enhance the functionality of the entire city," said a local landscaping expert. This shift signifies a change in the role of parks: They are no longer just the backdrop of urban ecology but are becoming the backbone that guides urban renewal.
The design intention has been effectively realized in Xinya Park. When the bell sounds marking the end of the school day, the entrance of the newly opened Yaxi Campus of Luoshe Junior High School next to the park remains orderly due to the addition of extra parking spots.
The addition of 67 spaces for vehicles to temporarily stop in the park effectively alleviates parking congestion, while the specially designed children's activity area and age-friendly spaces make the time parents spend picking up their children more enjoyable.
By addressing a specific community need, these greening updates are making full use of urban spaces. These small, beautiful, and exquisite green public spaces may not boast grand landscapes, but they are bringing a tangible sense of happiness to the residents.
